Mayor Femke Halsema travelled to New York City this weekend to attend the Urban20 conference, a diplomatic summit gathering leaders from major global cities.
During the visit, Halsema joined New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and other municipal leaders to tour a local housing development.
Halsema noted on Instagram that the group viewed newly built affordable homes for families, adding that New York is investing heavily in social and affordable housing.
Global talks on housing and climate
The Urban20 takes place each year in a different host city or group of cities, with New York City and Los Angeles serving as joint hosts this year.
First held in Buenos Aires in 2018, the summit brings mayors together to discuss common urban challenges including housing affordability, homelessness, climate policy, and migration.
