A temporary pop-up space called Gallery Fold has opened on the Prinsengracht 526, exploring the intersection of visual art and artificial intelligence.
The three-day exhibition runs from 18 to 20 September and features pieces by artists from the Netherlands, South Korea, Belgium, and the United Kingdom. Admission is free.
Public perception of algorithmic art
The showcase coincides with research conducted by DVJ Insights for Samsung, surveying 1,027 consumers about artificial intelligence in the arts.
The study found that one-third of respondents feel misled if a work they assumed was purely human-made turns out to have used AI, with 77% saying such works should carry clear labels.
However, nearly a quarter of participants noted they become more intrigued by a piece once they learn algorithmic tools were involved in its creation.
Featured creators and interactive tools
Participating artists include Noelle van Dijk, Pascal Sgro, Arno Coenen, Heatherlim Studio, Medusa Medusa, Jeehyun Kim, Leammonn, Max Tyler, Luceo Non Uro, and Daiya Dai.
Alongside the artworks, the venue hosts an interactive installation created with Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 devices, allowing visitors to test generative image software directly.
Gallery Fold is open daily from 13:00 to 18:00 through Sunday, 20 September, at Prinsengracht 526.
