What the Westerstraat market is
The Westerstraat market is a weekly general goods market in the Jordaan, held on Monday.
It has 212 stalls, and so many of them sell fabric and textile remnants that it has long been called the lapjesmarkt, the fabric market.
When it is open
The market runs on Monday mornings.
It is held at the same time as the Monday market on the Noordermarkt, which runs from 09:00 to 14:00.
Where it is and how to get there
The stalls line the Westerstraat, postcode 1015 MS, which runs into the Noordermarkt square.
From Centraal Station the walk via the Haarlemmerstraat to the Noordermarkt takes about 18 minutes.
Buses 18 and 21 from the IJ side of Centraal Station stop at Haarlemmerplein, about 15 minutes away on foot.
What to buy
Come for fabrics and fabric remnants.
As a general goods market, there are plenty of other stalls too.
Tips for your visit
Do the Westerstraat and the Noordermarkt Monday flea market together; they join up at the end of the street.
On Saturdays the same corner of the Jordaan has the Lindengracht market instead.

Other Monday markets
Most of the big daily markets are open on Monday too, including the Albert Cuyp Market, the Waterlooplein flea market and the Nieuwmarkt.
