A temporary cool down early in the week will quickly yield to high temperatures across the Netherlands, with conditions climbing back to 30 degrees Celsius and above later in the week.

Monday presents a split picture across the country, with cloudy skies and light rain in the north, while sunny weather opens the day in the southern region. Temperatures along the coast will reach around 22 degrees, while central areas see roughly 23 degrees and the southeast peaks near 29 degrees.

Temperatures drop before rising midweek

Overnight temperatures leading into Tuesday will drop noticeably, falling to around 8 degrees in northern areas. Tuesday afternoon stays relatively mild, reaching between 22 and 25 degrees with scattered cloud cover clearing to reveal sunshine later in the afternoon.

The brief reprieve ends on Wednesday as warm conditions quickly return nationwide. Inland areas can expect full sunshine and highs between 28 and 31 degrees.

High heat expected on Thursday and Friday

By Thursday and Friday, warm air moves across most of the country, pushing temperatures to 30 degrees or higher, except along the Wadden Islands. Eastern and southeastern regions are likely to see the highest numbers, reaching around 35 degrees.

Forecasters expect another cooling period to arrive over the weekend. The expected return of hot weather follows earlier summer heat spells that have put pressure on local urban trees, particularly beech species across Amsterdam.
